Gov Padilla orders IEC assistance to BSP
In response to the request letter of BSP North Luzon Regional Director Noel Neil Q. Malimban, dated May 25, 2022, Governor Carlos M. Padilla directed the GO Social Media Team and Public Affairs and Information Assistance Division (PAIAD) of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) to provide assistance in disseminating information about the BSP’s Ukrainian Hryvnia Currency Exchange Facility (UAH-CEF).
Accordingly, the said information and communication arms of the PGNV immediately uploaded to its official website and social media groups/pages all relevant information materials provided by the BSP, including the covering Memorandum Circular No. 1145-s2022, entitled “Opening of Currency Exchange Facility (CEF) Program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for Overseas Filipinos (OFs) Returning from Ukraine”.
In a press release, the BSP declared that “The UAH-CEF will be available from May 30 to September 29, 2022, and all OFs and their family members who have returned from Ukraine since 18 February 2022 are eligible for the currency exchange. However, the amount of UAH holdings that may be exchanged shall not be more than the equivalent of PHP20,000.00 per eligible person, except for highly meritorious reasons and subject to BSP approval.”
This is all part of the whole gamut of initiatives of the national government to assist OFs displaced/affected by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“To avail of the facility, OFs and their family members shall present documentary proof/s of their travel from Ukraine, i.e., original passport or original/certified true copy of the travel document issued by the Philippine Embassy in Poland with exit stamp by Ukrainian authorities and/or authorities from other countries that served as exit points for repatriation. The exchange may be done through the BSP Head Office in Manila, BSP Regional Offices and Branches, as well as authorized agent-banks across the country.”, the BSP further explained.
