The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, is gearing up to host the Regional Tourism Expo and the general assembly of the Cagayan Valley Regional Tourism Council (CVRTC) on September 27. This event is a centerpiece of the province’s Tourism Month celebration, which takes place throughout September, and is spearheaded by the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, led by Acting Provincial Tourism Officer Marichelle O. Costales.
Governor Gambito emphasized the importance of tourism in fostering community engagement and economic growth. “Tourism is not just about showcasing our beautiful landscapes and rich culture; it’s about bringing our community together and creating opportunities for our people. This event will highlight the best of Nueva Vizcaya and the entire Cagayan Valley region,” he said.
Former Governor Ruth R. Padilla, who chairs the CVRTC, also expressed her enthusiasm for the occasion, particularly for the much-anticipated Regional Tourism Award Night and Fashion Show. The fashion show, themed “Habi Moda Dos,” will feature selected models showcasing exquisite woven products from the provinces of Region II, celebrating the region’s rich craftsmanship.
The CVRTC assembly will also debut a Regional Film Festival, aimed at promoting local talent and tourism through the medium of film, further enriching the cultural landscape of the area.
Among the distinguished guests invited to attend the event is Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Cristina Garcia Frasco, adding significant recognition to the gathering.
In addition to the expo and assembly, the Tourism Month celebration will feature a variety of competitions, including the Nueva Vizcaya Kay Ganda Music Video Competition, Mobile Photography Contest titled “Sipat: Yaman Bulubundukin,” Vibe In: Tour Package Proposal Competition, and a Tour Guiding Competition.
An “Amazing Race” event will take place at Lower Magat Eco Park, alongside the launch of the Nueva Vizcaya Bike Circuit and Farm Tourism Circuit. The province will also participate in the 35th Philippine Travel Mart at the SMX Convention Center, as well as a promotional event called “NV Goes to Alabang.”
These activities aim to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nueva Vizcaya while boosting local tourism and engaging the community in various creative and competitive endeavors. /RMI
