A proposed ordinance to formalize the Grand Ammungan Festival as the official festival of Nueva Vizcaya was discussed in a public hearing on January 28, 2025, held in the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on the 2nd Floor of the People’s Hall, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
BM Eunice Galima-Gambol, head of the SP Committee on Tourism, Culture, and the Arts, penned the ordinance and presided over the hearing, which was also attended by Former Governor Ruth Padilla, now Chairperson of the Provincial Tourism Council, and Ms. Marichelle O. Costales, Acting Chief of the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, among representatives of the various municipality LGUs.
The proposed ordinance, officially known as the Grand Ammungan Festival Ordinance, comprises various sections on the history, conduct, strategies, and responsible parties for the festival, including but not limited to: the official logo of the festival, its organizing committees, and its major events. The latter lists the Travel and Tourism Expo/Municipal Tourism Booth Competition, the Saniata iti Nueva Vizcaya pageant, and the Streetdancing Competition.
The ordinance will be undergoing further refinement based on the inputs and as discussed during the public hearing, but appears to be backed by unanimous agreement as to its status. The proposed ordinance once approved and signed by Governor Atty Jose V. Gambito will make the grand Ammungan Festival the official festival of the province of Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
