The Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO), headed by Provincial Tourism Officer Marichelle O. Costales, has announced the various activities for the upcoming 2024 Tourism Month celebration this September, focusing on the intersection of tourism and peacebuilding. In line with the United Nations Tourism (UNWTO) theme, the event will highlight how travel, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism practices can contribute to global peace, conflict resolution, and reconciliation efforts.
Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito expressed strong support for the province’s tourism industry, citing its crucial role in boosting the local economy. The celebration will feature a variety of events, including a “Nueva Vizcaya Kayganda” music video-making competition, a mobile photography contest “Sipat: Yamang Bulubundukin,” and competitions for tour package proposals and tour guiding aimed at promoting the province’s vibrant tourist destinations.
A highlight of the festivities will be the Amazing Race at Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park, a thrilling adventure inspired by the popular reality TV show. The PTCO has also organized a tour guide assembly in Malico, Sta. and will be participating in the 35th Philippine Travel Mart.
The province will host the Region 2 Cagayan Valley Tourism Council’s annual general assembly, featuring a tourism expo, a fashion show, and a regional tourism forum. The PTCO’s comprehensive approach stresses its commitment to showcasing Nueva Vizcaya’s natural beauty while promoting peace through tourism. /cqc
