The provincial government, led by Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, celebrated local champions in nutrition during an awarding ceremony today(Oct.28), held alongside the flag-raising event.
Mr. Ruben Ramuel C. Ambatali II, a Nutrition Officer III from the Governor’s Office, was honored as the top Regional Outstanding District Nutrition Program Coordinator for 2023. Ms. Shimei Lei D. Infante from Kasibu also received first place as the Regional Outstanding Local Nutrition Action Officer.
Other notable mentions included Ms. Marites M. Vadil from Dupax del Norte, who ranked fourth in the Regional Outstanding Local Nutrition Program Coordinator category. Ms. Catherine L. Cumila from Barangay Capisaan in Kasibu secured third place among Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
The event also celebrated municipalities that received the 2023 Green Banner Seal of Compliance. This award is given to Local Government Units (LGUs) that score at least 85% overall, with no area falling below 60%. The honored municipalities were Alfonso Castaneda, Ambaguio, Bagabag, Bayombong, Diadi, Dupax del Norte, Kasibu, Kayapa, Quezon, Santa Fe, Solano, and Villaverde.
Special recognition went to the Municipality of Kasibu for being the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) for three years in a row. Kasibu will receive the National Nutrition Award as the CROWN Awardee for Region 2 in 2023.
Governor Gambito praised the awardees for their hard work and dedication to improving nutrition in the province. “These awards are a testament to the steadfast dedication and tireless efforts of our nutrition officers and local government units. Their commitment to enhancing nutrition standards across the province has not only improved the health and well-being of our communities but has also set a benchmark for others to follow. By working together, we are creating a healthier and more sustainable future for all. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and look forward to continuing this vital work in the years to come,” he said. /RMI
