
The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, took a significant step in agricultural development by hosting the first-ever Mango Stakeholders Forum on May 30 at the Ammungan Hall, Provincial Capitol. The forum, spearheaded by the Provincial Agriculture Office, brought together key players from various sectors to boost the province’s mango industry.
Organized in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture Nueva Vizcaya Experiment Station (DA-NVES), and other stakeholders, the event gathered mango growers, processors, traders, government agencies, NGOs, State,Universities and Colleges (SUCs), policymakers, and representatives from lower local government units (LGUs).
The forum served as a vital platform for collaboration among farmers, government agencies, research institutions, and the private sector. Participants exchanged knowledge, explored innovative solutions, and developed strategies to address the challenges facing the local mango industry.
“This forum helps us harness our collective expertise and resources to enhance the productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability of mango production in Nueva Vizcaya,” said Provincial Agriculture Officer Absalom Baysa. “By working together, we can keep Nueva Vizcaya at the forefront of agricultural innovation and sustainable farming in the region.”
Governor Gambito emphasized the importance of unity and innovation in advancing the province’s agricultural sector. “The success of the mango industry is the success of every Vizcayano. Through collaboration and sharing of knowledge, we can further strengthen the livelihood of our farmers and advance the agricultural development of Nueva Vizcaya,” Gov. Gambito said.
Nueva Vizcaya is a significant contributor to regional agriculture, with 3,769.19 hectares of mango plantations producing 14,405.8 metric tons of mangoes annually.
Among the key topics discussed were the current mango industry situation, the presentation of the Mango Road Map and Regional Mango Industry Development Plan, and updates on the latest mango production technologies. The event also included a workshop for crafting a Mango Industry Development Plan tailored for the province. /RMI
