The Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) hosted the Flag Raising Ceremony on June 23, 2025, at the Nueva Vizcaya Peoples’ Stage, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The PGSO took the opportunity to announce their accomplishments in their mandate to guarantee the smooth operations of the provincial government’s many offices.
The PGSO’s five divisions – administrative and archival, procurement and inventory control, special operations, security division, and repair and maintenance – are the support of all offices within the provincial government, responsible for everything from office supplies, traffic and security within all Capitol offices, to the use of facilities such as the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, Ammungan Hall, etc. According to Acting Assistant Provincial General Services Officer, Engr. Honorio B. Sierra Jr., there were at least 301 folders digitized by the administrative and archival division; 143 vehicles were maintained by the procurement division, 13 vehicles submitted for auction, and 150 transactions of property acknowledgement receipt recorded, as well as 2039 inventory custodian slips. The division also recorded 458 purchase requests, served 404 purchase orders, and 29 transactions for liquidated damages.
The special operations division recorded 58 events hosted at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, 57 events at the Ammungan Hall, 34 events at the Nueva Vizcaya Sports Complex, 18 at the Nueva Vizcaya People’s Stage, and 37 at the Nueva Vizcaya Pasalubong Center. The division collected 622,000 pesos in utilization and rental fees for the Convention Center; 83,084 pesos for Ammungan Hall; 2,460 pesos for the Sports Complex; and 500 pesos and 2000 pesos in electric bills and rent for chairs and tents, respectively.
Meanwhile, the security division ‘investigated and submitted to the higher offices’ three major GAD-related incidents and 21 minor incidents. 30 traffic violators were also recorded and referred to higher offices. The repair and maintenance division aided in the completion of 10 major building repairs out of 17, with 5 still on process; exclusive of verbal requests, 141 official requests were quickly attended, ranging from installation of curtains to structure repairs and other such essential maintenance work. The PGSO also facilitated the implementation of 5 engineering projects, 2 of which are completed with 3 ongoing or being inspected.
A recent highlight of PGSO’s work is the ground preparation of the Capitol Compound and other areas for the 16th Grand Ammungan Festival, with Provincial General Services Officer Kathyleen D. Marcelo serving as Assistant Director General, and PGSO the secretariat of the Bids and Awards Committee. With preparations beginning as early as February for the May event, the Committee prepared 68 awards for the various events, as well as 247 purchase orders and 141 resolutions, with more added after the event.
The PGSO’s various roles as groundskeepers, custodians, and procurers are anything but humble, and greatly essential to the work of the provincial government in its provision of services to the entire province. As the duties of the provincial government continue to be carried, the PGSO may also continue in its aid not just to government, but to the whole province. /igmb
