On January 30, 2024, the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV), through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development (PROCEDE) Office led by Ms. Juditte L. Asuncion, hosted a Cooperative Orientation/Pre-Registration Seminar for 165 teachers and staff of Solano High School (SHS).
The seminar, facilitated by Mr. Arturo A. Palafox, Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist, and Ms. Imelda B. Yaban, Cooperative Development Specialist II, took place at the Solano High School Gymnasium, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, following a request to the Governor by Ms. Trinidad da Bancod Logan, Principal IV.
Inspired by the successful cooperatives in Nueva Vizcaya, the teachers and staff are planning to convert their association into a cooperative. The aim is not only to meet their needs and improve their economic status but also to foster stronger relationships among teachers, staff, and the broader community.
The seminar provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the cooperative model, its benefits, and the process of setting up a cooperative. It served as a stepping stone for them as they embark on their journey to form their cooperative.
The initiative reflects Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito’s commitment to promoting cooperatives as a viable and sustainable means of economic development. It also underscores the role of education in empowering individuals and communities to take charge of their economic well-being.
With the knowledge gained from the seminar, the teachers and staff of Solano High School are now better equipped to establish and manage their cooperative, contributing to the vibrant cooperative movement in Nueva Vizcaya. #mvs
