The creativity and environmental commitment of young Vizcayanos gleams during the awarding ceremony of the “Pasiklaban ng Proyektong Makakalikasan 2024.”, celebrating innovative projects championing sustainability and environmental conservation.
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENARO) headed by For. Tito A. Tanguilig spearheaded the competition as the culminating activity for National Environmental Awareness Month (NEAM) , observed every November. The program encouraged youth-led initiatives focusing on recycling and effective plastic waste management, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices.
Out of 16 participating schools, five finalists presented innovative projects that highlighted eco-friendly solutions and innovative ways to address pressing environmental concerns. The entries ranged from artistic creations using recycled materials to practical applications for reducing plastic pollution in their respective communities. The top projects received accolades for their ingenuity, impact potential, and alignment with the goals of Republic Act No. 9512, the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008.
Apart from recognizing winners for the Pasiklaban ng Proyektong Makakalikasan 2024, PENARO also recognized the champions of “Sayawit Para sa Kalikasan,” a competition blending music and dance to promote environmental advocacy. This creative initiative showcased the cultural talents of participants while spreading awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito ensured sufficient funding support for NEAM implementation. His administration allocated resources to cover expenses and provide prizes for various competitions, including the Pasiklaban ng Proyektong Makakalikasan and Sayawit Para sa Kalikasan. The PENARO team expressed their gratitude to the participating schools, educators, and stakeholders who collaborated to make the event a success.
As the year ends, the winners’ projects inspire the province’s continued push toward sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Pasiklaban ng Proyektong Makakalikasan and Sayawit Para sa Kalikasan have proven to be showcasing not only innovation but also for instilling a culture of environmental responsibility among the younger generation.
