NVSU Citrus Research Center Opens

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Dr. RENATO U. SOLIDUM, JR. spearheads the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the newly established Phil-Citrus Resources Development Center on March 12, 2025, at the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) Citrus Center.

The event was also highlighted by the unveiling of the facility’s marker and a technology exhibition showcasing the latest advancements in citrus research and development.

The Phil-Citrus Resources Development Center, funded through Phase 1 with P20 million and Phase 2 with P52 million, aims to advance scientific research and development (R&D) particularly in the country’s citrus industry. With Nueva Vizcaya being the ‘Citrus Capital of the Philippines,’ the center is expected to support local citrus production.

Following the ribbon-cutting is a press conference where NVSU President Wilfredo A. Dumale , Jr. emphasized the importance of agri-research and development partnerships between NVSU and DOST, particularly in citrus research.

Recognizing the support of Governor Jose V. Gambito for students and farmers in Nueva Vizcaya, the province’s initiatives align with the newly inaugurated citrus research center. Gov. Gambito has consistently pushed for agricultural modernization and education-driven development, that will directly benefit local farmers and aspiring agriculturists. /gpp
