The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Gov. Atty. Jose “Jing” V. Gambito, has recently achieved a prestigious accolade, being named one of the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awardees. Out of the 714 awardees from cities, municipalities, and provinces nationwide, Nueva Vizcaya stands proud as one of the provinces to be recognized for its outstanding commitment to good governance and transparent leadership.
Nueva Vizcaya is one of the 41 provinces in the Philippines, and has made significant strides in fostering public trust and accountability in governance. Adding to province’s achievement is, 6 of the province’s municipalities, Ambaguio, Aritao, Kasibu, Solano, Kayapa and Villaverde are also SGLG 2024 awardees.
The SGLG, an initiative that evolved from Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH), encourages LGUs to adopt transparent and accountable practices in their operations. It evaluates local governments on key areas such as financial administration, disaster preparedness, environmental management, business friendliness, social protection, and peace and order. By meeting these standards, LGUs are motivated to improve public service delivery and benefit their communities. “This award is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to clean, efficient and accountable governance. It is not only a recognition for the provincial government but also for every Novo Vizcayano who plays a part in building a better province for all,” Gov. Gambito said.
Gov. Gambito attributed this achievement to the hard work and dedication of the provincial government and the collaboration of local officials, staffs, and all Novo Vizcayanos. It symbolizes the provincial government’s focus on transparency, efficiency, and effective service delivery. It also strengthens Gov. Gambito’s approach of a prosperous, empowered, and well-governed province, setting an example for other LGUs nationwide.
As the province celebrates this achievement, it looks forward to sustaining its commitment to good governance, ensuring that it remains a place where every citizen’s voice is heard, and every decision made is for the common good.
With this award, the province is not only securing a brighter future for its people but also setting the bar for other LGUs across the country to follow. Under Gov. Gambito’s administration, this achievement signifies an important phase in the province’s pursuit of enhanced transparency and responsibility in governance, allowing Novo Vizcayanos to consistently benefit from effective, responsive, and innovative leadership for the foreseeable future. /jmcb
