The Nueva Vizcaya Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NV DRRM) Council has approved a series of critical plans aimed at enhancing the province’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities during its 1st quarter meeting, held on February 25, 2025 at the PIHO Conference Hall, Bayombong.
Among the endorsed and approved plans were the 2024 Contingency Plan for Earthquake, the Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)-DRRM Social Protection Plan and the Integrated River Basin Management Plan. These initiatives are designed to strengthen community resilience and safeguard vulnerable sectors against disasters.
The council also gave the green light to the 2025 Local DRRM Fund Plan, which includes multi-million peso projects spearheaded by the Provincial DRRM Office (PDRRMO). These projects, backed by a supplemental budget, aim to boost disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in the province to ensure that communities remain safe and well-equipped for future challenges.
Moreover, the Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan for Typhoon Pepito was presented, outlining strategies for rebuilding affected communities and ensuring long-term sustainability in disaster-impacted areas.
Meanwhile, as Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, NV DRRM Council Chairperson continues to champion disaster resilience measures in Nueva Vizcaya, his leadership has aligned its strategies with his vision of a well-prepared and adaptive province.
Together with Acting PDRRMO, Mr. King Webster A. Balaw-ing who works tirelessly to ensure that disaster risk reduction efforts are integrated into sustainable development programs, Gov. Gambito’s advocacy for disaster preparedness reflects his governance philosophy—investing in long-term resilience to protect lives, livelihood, and the province’s future. /gloria
