As a manifestation of the efforts of the Provincial Government to boost its tourism industry, the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO), headed by Acting Assistant PTC Officer Marichelle O. Costales, bags Most Outstanding Tourism Officer in the Philippines and remains first runner-up on the Best Brochure for Tourism Promotions Award in the recently concluded Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines-2024 Pearl Awards (ATOP-Pearl Awards) held in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, on October 9, 2024.
The prestigious ATOP-Pearl Awards serve as a platform to honor and celebrate exceptional achievements and innovative initiatives in the promotion of tourism and acknowledge the remarkable contributions made by individuals and organizations within the tourism industry.
Costales was commended for her outstanding leadership and management, bringing innovative tourism promotion strategies along with a strong commitment to professionalism and ethics. Her focus on sustainable tourism, strategic partnerships, and efficient tourism data management significantly contributed to the development of the province’s tourism sector.
Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito reiterated his commitment to bolstering tourism initiatives aimed at driving economic growth and advancing the province’s tourism sector. “These awards reflect the unwavering dedication of our tourism officers as we work to establish Nueva Vizcaya as a leading destination that seamlessly integrates natural and cultural attractions while promoting sustainable development and improving the lives of our people,” Gambito said.
Acting PTCO Marichelle O. Costales highlighted that the award reflects years of collaboration with key tourism industry players and expressed her gratitude that the province is gaining recognition for its nature and adventure tourism.
The municipality of Kasibu also earned the Best Tourism Promotion Brochure at the municipal level for its entry, which was praised for its vivid depiction of Kasibu’s distinct attractions, highlighting the seamless integration of its agricultural heritage with its rich cultural landscape.
Kayapa’s King of the Mountain Trail Run secured the second runner-up position for Best Sports Tourism Event, showing the town’s dedication to promoting adventurous and active tourism experiences. /cqc
