Nueva Vizcaya’s coffee industry has achieved another milestone at the 2025 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC), with five entries from the province receiving top green grading results—one of which was awarded a Special Citation.
Bumolo’s Integrated Farm and Kasibu Coffee Growers Association (Kasibu), Bugkalot Coffee Growers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Dupax del Sur), and Tiblac Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Ambaguio) were among this year’s recognized participants for submitting green coffee beans with zero to minimal defects. The PCQC, conducted from April to May 2025, promotes Philippine specialty coffee and helps identify the country’s best coffee lots for both local and international markets. Results were officially announced on May 9–11 at One Ayala, Makati City.
Among the top performers, Bugkalot Coffee Growers MPC’s Arabica entry was reclassified from Premium to Specialty Arabica, achieving zero primary and secondary defects. Bumolo’s Integrated Farm also earned a Specialty Arabica grade for its Arabica beans, while its experimental Robusta entry received a Special Citation with a score of 79.79 and zero defects. Both Kasibu Coffee Growers Association and Tiblac Farmers Agriculture Cooperative had their Robusta entries graded as Fine Robusta, with Tiblac’s beans also recording zero defects.
Nueva Vizcaya Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito lauded the province’s coffee growers for their success, describing the coffee sector as a “booming industry” in the province. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our farmers. The coffee industry in Nueva Vizcaya is truly booming and continues to bring pride to our province,” Gov. Gambito said. He also emphasized the provincial government’s ongoing commitment to the sector: “The provincial government continues to support the coffee industry at every level—from our coffee growers to those engaged in coffee business and entrepreneurship—so that everyone benefits from the growth of this promising industry. With the positive direction our coffee industry is heading, it is not far-fetched that Nueva Vizcaya could soon become the coffee capital of the country,” he added. /RMI
