The spirit of culture, grace, and unity lit up the Provincial Capitol as 15 stunning candidates from various municipalities showcased their camia-inspired white gowns during the much-anticipated “Parada ti Saniata,” a highlight of the 16th Grand Ammungan Festival (GAF). The symbolic parade began at Saber Inn, passed through the Capitol grounds, and culminated at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center (CMPCC), where the candidates took center stage, embodying the purity and elegance of the camia flower, the Nueva Vizcaya’s provincial bloom. The event took place on May 21, 2025.
The white camia, known for its delicate beauty and fragrance, served as the inspiration for the Saniatas’ gowns, which flowed with every graceful step the candidates made. Each ensemble was a blend of traditional beauty and modern sophistication, reflecting not only the natural charm of the province but also the grace of its people.
In her opening message, Hon. Eunice Galima-Gambol emphasized the importance of celebrating local culture and empowering young women through pageantry, noting that the “Saniata ti Nueva Vizcaya” continues to serve as a platform for advocacy, leadership, and cultural pride.
Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito paid tribute to former Governor Ruth R. Padilla, recognizing her essential role in the establishment of the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in preparing for the Saniata ti Nueva Vizcaya festival, noting their dedication and hard work. “I have seen and truly appreciate your efforts,” he said.
Governor Gambito went on to announce that although May 24 is officially recognized as the Ammungan Holiday, it falls on a Saturday this year. “To give everyone a well-deserved rest after the festival, I am declaring May 26 as a no-work day for local government employees and a no-classes day for both public and private schools,” he declared, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
An unforgettable moment of solidarity shone through during a gown walk on stage when Miss Villaverde, Britney Jean P. Abigon, extended a helping hand to Miss Dupax del Sur, whose gown got entangled. The act of kindness served as a touching reminder that true beauty transcends competition. Thus, sisterhood and empathy reign supreme in the heart of every Saniata.
As the lights dimmed and the celebration drew to a close, the audience was left not only in awe of the gowns and grace but also deeply moved by the unbreakable spirit of Nueva Vizcaya. The Saniatas did more than model tradition and style. They walked as symbols of hope, unity, and pride, reminding everyone that the true essence of Ammungan lives on in every heart that beats for the province. /jmcb
