A dialogue with the universities, colleges, vocational schools, and high schools in the province was recently conducted to foster a more peaceful Nueva Vizcaya. This initiative, conceptualized by the tri-council Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC)-Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC)- End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), in collaboration with DILG was held on June 25, 2024, at Ammungan Hall, Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
In the said dialogue cum workshop, Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito expressed his commitment to peace and order, highlighting its critical role in economic development. He expressed his satisfaction that, following Nueva Vizcaya’s declaration as insurgency-free province, numerous investors—on par with those from Metro Manila—have shown interest in investing in the province.
Gov. Gambito mentioned that maintaining the province’s peaceful situation attracts more investors, that will lead to increased job opportunities for new graduates. To be able to enhance the province’s reputation internationally and boost the local economy, he has devised strategies for further development.
Recently declared the second fastest-growing economy in the Philippines, he aims to make Nueva Vizcaya number one. He also emphasized that his primary focus is on economic development rather than politics, saying, “I am not a wise politician, but I am a wise economist.” He acts fast on economic matters to ensure progress “because If I do not act now, our province’s food security will be at risk. That is why I am focused on my flagship programs particularly the “Kalsada ti Kabanbantayan,” to tap the potentials of our mountains, which make up 75% of Nueva Vizcaya. Improving our roads in these areas is a simple economic principle, and I am confident that it will work,” he explained.
Gov. Gambito also mentioned that he works tirelessly because he has only one year left and wants to accomplish more. “I will finish my first term as Governor with a clean conscience knowing I have done my best for our people. I support this dialogue on peace and order because I believe peace and order drive economic progress,” he said.
The dialogue concluded with a pledge of commitment to partner with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Nueva Vizcaya, National Government Agencies (NGAs), and other organizations to remain vigilant against all forms of security threats. Recognizing the importance of sustainability efforts following the province’s declaration as insurgency-free, the dialogue aimed to prevent manipulation or recruitment among the youth and students who are often vulnerable to such influences.
