Atty. Jose V. Gambito has been officially proclaimed as the elected Governor of Nueva Vizcaya following a decisive victory in the May 12 elections, earning 151,517 votes or 61.66% of the total ballots cast, according to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). The Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) formally declared Gambito’s victory during a proclamation ceremony held at the People’s Hall, Capitol, Bayombong on May 13, 2025. This marks his first election for the governorship, after having previously assumed the role through the line of succession following the passing of the late Governor Carlos M. Padilla, on May 5, 2023.
During his nearly two-year stint as appointed Governor, Gambito gained widespread approval for continuing Padilla’s legacy while also launching innovative programs that advanced the province’s development. Under his leadership, Nueva Vizcaya was elevated to first-class provincial status and garnered 15 regional and national awards for excellence in governance and public service. Governor Gambito had been eager to be the Governor of the province, and the right time comes with an overwhelming result.

Alongside Governor Gambito, other winning officials also proclaimed by the PBOC were Atty. Timothy Joseph E. Cayton as Congressman and Eufemia A. Dacayo as Vice Governor. For the First District of the Province, the elected board members were Luisa Corazon L. Cuaresma, Leah D. Tidang, Leonard Clemens L. Cadoy, Emerlene Jane Galanta-Martinez, and Pablo P. Kindot. Representing the Second District were Eunice Galima-Gambol, Atty. John Severino G. Bagasao, Atty. Primo Percival J. Marcos, Wilson D. Salas, and Flodemonte S. Gerdan. Only Atty. Bagasao was not able to attend the proclamation ceremony.
With a fresh mandate and overwhelming public backing, Governor Gambito’s leadership signals a new era for Nueva Vizcaya as it moves forward on its journey toward inclusive development and lasting progress. /jmcb
