BFP Nueva Vizcaya Highlights Fire Prevention Efforts

Nueva Vizcaya—The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office highlighted its month-long Fire Prevention Month activities during a press conference held on March 18, 2025, during the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya’s (PGNV) Taripnong initiative. The event, spearheaded by Governor Jose V. Gambito through the Public Affairs and Information Assistance Division, led by Mr. Leonardo A. Garlitos, provided a platform to discuss the bureau’s initiatives and accomplishments in fire safety and prevention.

Representing the BFP were SFO3 Daisy L. Cbauatan and FO1 Orville Jan C. Padilla, detailed the programs and activities of the BFP Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office under PSSupt. Pedro B. Espinosa. Remarkably, who was recently recognized as the Best Provincial Fire Office, further reinforcing its fire safety and community initiatives. The month-long observance began with a fire safety awareness campaign, with a 100% implementation of Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan at the barangay level. To achieve zero fire incident, the bureau also assisted local fire stations in formulating a detailed fire prevention plan through its Community Fire Protection Plans (CFPP), in coordination with barangay officials. Implementation of the CFPP has successfully covered 80% of the barangays in the province to date. With barangay-level capacity-building nearing completion, the BFP is set to conduct house-to-house fire safety campaigns, culminating in simulation exercises to assess the effectiveness of the formulated plans in specific community.

Beyond fire safety, BFP Nueva Vizcaya is also engaged in environmental and social development projects. The Kalikasan Warriors, in line with the “Adopt a Tourist Spot” initiative, selected the Rizal Shrine as a beneficiary, where they planted coffee seedlings. This project aims to support local households and will be expanded after the initial harvest.

The BFP has also partnered with the PGNV and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in a Serbisyo Caravan, bringing essential services closer to the people. Additionally, Project Luntian promotes the planting of native trees and sisal plants, complementing broader climate change mitigation efforts in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Further extending its social impact, the BFP initiated the distribution of “Bags of Hope” to Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) housed at the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Jail. The bureau also launched a public fire education campaign, deploying community educators, to advocate fire prevention and safety, particularly for children.

Governor Gambito, in his commitment to community safety has always stressed on the importance of disaster preparedness, and sustainable development. As always, he would advocate his goal of safeguarding a more resilient Nueva Vizcaya and continue to lead the way in fire prevention, environmental conservation, and community service. /gpp
