Nueva Vizcaya witnessed a momentous event during the oath-taking ceremony, as Governor Atty. Jose “Jing” V. Gambito led a powerful display of unity among the province’s newly elected officials. For the first time, the Governor, Vice-Governor, and Congressman stood together on one stage, symbolizing a renewed commitment to solidarity and collective service during the oath-taking ceremony of elected national and local offices on June 30, 2025, at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, Capitol, Bayombong.
“The path to the province’s progress lies in unity,” Governor Gambito declared. The Governor also took the opportunity to commend the heads and chiefs of various provincial offices for their creativity and innovation in conceptualizing projects that contributed to the province’s advancement. He underscored that unity and innovation are the guiding principles he envisions for his administration.
Under Governor Gambito’s leadership, Nueva Vizcaya is entering a new era. One that thrives on collaborative governance and forward-thinking initiatives aimed at sustainable growth and inclusive development. He is set to continue serving the Novo Vizcayanos with a comprehensive development agenda focused on enhancing infrastructure, supporting agriculture, expanding social services, and strengthening peace and security such as the “Kalsada ti Kabanbantayan”, “Dalan ti Umili”, “Silaw ti Umili”, and “Wi-fi ti Umili” among others.
Since assuming leadership in May 2023 upon the untimely death of Governor Carlos M. Padilla, Governor Gambito has steered the province to remarkable achievements, earning multiple national and regional accolades under his administration. Among the most notable is the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2024, the mother of all awards from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Nueva Vizcaya was also recognized with the SubayBAYANI award, named the Outstanding Local Government Unit in Cagayan Valley by the DILG, and honored with the Gawad KALASAG award for excellence in disaster risk reduction and management. Under Governor Gambito’s dynamic and grassroots-driven leadership, the province has been elevated to first-class provincial status, identified as the second fastest-growing economy province in the Philippines, and officially declared an insurgency-free province, marking a historic milestone in local peace and security efforts. Building on these achievements, Governor Gambito secured a strong mandate in the May 12, 2025 elections, winning his first full term with 151,517 votes, or 61.66% of the total votes cast, solidifying the public’s trust in his vision and leadership.
In his speech, Governor Gambito highlighted his administration’s focus on improving key services for Novo Vizcayanos. One of which is the expansion of healthcare with 3 mobile clinics that bring medical services to remote areas through the wellness caravan initiative. He also shared his goal of making the province an organic province, promoting healthier living for all Novo Vizcayanos. The Governor also wants to re-open the Bagabag Airport, which, with the help of Congressman Atty. Cayton will make the province more accessible to tourists, boosting local businesses and tourism.
Additionally, the Governor announced the solarization of the Capitol Compound, a project to reduce energy use and promote sustainability. Governor Gambito also mentioned the need for a sub-office of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) in Aritao to make heavy equipment and infrastructure services more accessible to neighboring municipalities, speeding up public works in the province.
Governor Gambito also thanked the youth for the strong support they have given him. “Prepare yourself as I prepare the province for you,” he often says, reflecting his deep commitment to empowering the next generation. His connection with the youth is one of the key reasons he is so loved, especially among younger people. Many of his projects are not only rooted in grassroots initiatives but are also designed with the youth in mind, as he believes they are the future leaders of Nueva Vizcaya.
With a focus on inclusive governance and shared responsibility, Governor Gambito is setting the tone for a new era of teamwork, an administration grounded in service, solidarity, and progress for all Vizcayanos. /jmcb
