Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito has lauded the Provincial Development Council (PDC) for its important role in driving Nueva Vizcaya’s remarkable achievements and economic progress under his administration.
Presiding at the first PDC meeting for 2025, Gov. Gambito acknowledged the council’s valuable contributions, which have helped make Nueva Vizcaya the second fastest-growing economy in the Philippines. He also cited the province’s recent elevation from a second-class to a first-class province and the substantial increase in local revenue collections—milestones that have enabled the government to expand and improve services for its citizens.
“I am deeply grateful to the PDC members for their strong support of the innovative programs I introduced after assuming office as governor, following the passing of Gov. Carlos M. Padilla,” Gov. Gambito said. He stressed that the unity pact he formed with the late governor was instrumental in accelerating the province’s development. “The unity pact that I had with the late Gov. Carlos M. Padilla is one of the reasons that ignited the fast development of Nueva Vizcaya,” he emphasized.
During the meeting, the provincial government honored various Civil Society Organizations, sectoral committee chairpersons, vice chairpersons, and members of the PDC with certificates of recognition for their outstanding service and commitment. Among those recognized was former governor and current provincial federation president of the Abot Palas Association, Mrs. Ruth R. Padilla, who also serves as chairperson of the PDC’s Social Development Committee.
With the start of Gov. Gambito’s new term, the reorganization of the PDC is mandatory. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are also required to undergo reaccreditation with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to be eligible for membership in the PDC.
The PDC serves as the highest policy-making body at the provincial level, tasked with formulating development plans, setting the direction for economic and social growth, and coordinating programs and projects among various government and non-government sectors. The council is composed of local government officials, representatives from national government agencies, and accredited civil society organizations. /RMI
