Nueva Vizcaya Begins 2025 with Top Honors in Governance and Leadership

The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, has commenced 2025 with a series of honors recognizing its outstanding governance and leadership. On February 17, the Regional Office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) honored Nueva Vizcaya as the Outstanding Local Government Unit in the Cagayan Valley through its prestigious Excellence Award for Governance and Leadership (EAGLE).

The regional awarding ceremony, held at the Pulsar Hotel in Tuguegarao City, included Provincial Warden Carmelo Andrada, who also serves as the Focal Person on Peace and Order Council (POC), Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC), Security, and Insurgency, as well as the Chairperson on Security and Counter Terrorism Committee of the provincial government, accepting the award on behalf of Governor Gambito. Accompanying him was Engr. Marlon Castillo from the Provincial Planning and Development Office(PPDO).

Governor Gambito expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “These awards are a testament to the hard work,dedication and unity of our entire team and the people of Nueva Vizcaya. Our commitment to good governance and community welfare remains steadfast, and we will continue to strive for excellence in serving our constituents.”The province’s commitment to peace and order, as well as its proactive stance on anti-drug initiatives, earned additional commendations. The Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council were recognized as Highly Functional, accompanied by a PHP 150,000 incentive from the DILG regional office.

Several municipalities in Nueva Vizcaya were also praised for their outstanding performance. Ambaguio, Aritao, Kayapa, Solano, Sta. Fe, and Villaverde were named Outstanding Municipal Local Government Units. Additionally, Ambaguio, Bayombong, Diadi, Dupax del Norte, Kasibu, Kayapa, Solano, and Villaverde were recognized as Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) Passers. Notably, Ambaguio and Sta. Fe achieved a 100% rating for their Anti-Drug Abuse Councils and were honored as ADAC National Awardees for their efforts in combating drug issues. /RMI
