The Provincial Government, through the Provincial Agricultural Office (PAgrO) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), distributed various agricultural inputs to farmers at the Provincial Nursery, Magsaysay, Bayombong on February 10, 2025.
The agricultural inputs sourced from the 5% Quick Response Fund of the P5 Million Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund (LDRRMF), were intended for the 170 listed farmers badly affected by typhoons “Nika” and “Pepito” in 2024. The damage caused by the recent typhoon in the province reached more than P3 Billion.
“The procurement of agri-inputs is the appropriate intervention we see. I know it is not enough, but it is a big help for us to recover from the impact left by the typhoons,” OIC PDRRM Officer King Webster B. Balaw-ing said.
“We have a bundle of solutions. It was not only our farms and crops that were damaged, but some houses too. We also have allotted P5,000 per household for the emergency shelter assistance,” Balaw-ing added.
Governor Atty. Jose “Jing” V. Gambito said, “We should work together to make our province progressive. I have prioritized the “Kalsada iti Kabanbantayan” projects to help the farmers. It is a strategy to improve food security. If crop production increases, produce will be available for food consumption and increase the income of our farmers.”
“Give me the chance to work for the progress of the province. Nueva Vizcaya is in the top 5 Fastest Growing Economies in the Philippines. We will achieve a lot of things, if we will work together,” Gov. Gambito stressed.
The PAgrO distributed vegetable seeds including corn, rice and onion; planting materials like grafted mango and calamansi; and organic fertilizers. The PAgrO distributed earlier tilapia fingerlings to fisherfolks on January 14, 2025 at the PAgrO building, Capitol Compound.
According to Provincial Agriculturist Absalom Rizal D. Baysa, his office has also prepared vegetable seed packs for walk-in clients at the PAgrO. “We are always ready to respond to your requests of fingerlings, seedlings, seeds and other agri-inputs. Your (farmers) problem is also our problem, and we are here to help you solve it,” Baysa said. #bglorenzo
