Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya — Following the award conferred to Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Jail (NVPJ), under the leadership of Provincial Warden SFO4 Carmelo B. Andrada (Ret.) for its outstanding initiatives in digital innovation and community service is a message from Governor Jose V. Gambito, expressing pride in the NVPJ’s achievements as he shared his plans to transform the Provincial Jail into a rehabilitation center and learning acquisition hub.
“We aim to provide persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) with the opportunity to learn and grow during their confinement so that when they are reintegrated into society, they face brighter prospects and a more hopeful future,” Gambito said.
Recognized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the NVPJ received the Top 2 Regional Award on COVID-19 Pandemic Response and was also named a Regional Awardee as an Emerging Tech4Ed Center at the Hotel Sofia, Caauayan City on November 20, 2024.
These awards showcase the NVPJ’s perseverance in empowering the community through innovative digital programs and services. Its initiatives have boosted community engagement and entrepreneurship, earning admiration and respect from stakeholders.
The NVPJ’s technology advancement and education aligns with the provincial government’s broader agenda to empower marginalized sectors, including PDLs, with skills and knowledge that promote self-reliance and economic independence. The integration of the Tech4Ed program has not only enhanced digital literacy among PDLs but also supports environment for personal development and entrepreneurship.
