“Driver’s License Mo, Sagut ni Gayyem ti Umili” launched

The Public Employment Service Division (PESD), led by PESO Manager Dolly Rose C. Minas, launched the “Driver’s License Mo, Sagut ni Gayyem ti Umili,” program initiated by Governor Atty. Jose “Jing” V. Gambito. This initiative aims to support informal sector workers by facilitating their qualification for a free driver’s license. Profiling sessions will be conducted for 13 working days from October 15 to 31, 2024, in front of the PESD office at the Capitol Compound, Bayombong, with services also extending to surrounding municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya. This event ensures that eligible participants can access this valuable opportunity.

The program is designed to streamline the application process for those who meet the criteria, making sure that informal sector workers could benefit from the program without facing financial constraints. Participants are encouraged to attend the profiling sessions and bring necessary documents to facilitate their application. Requirements include photocopy of a valid student driver’s permit, medical health certificate from an LTO-accredited medical clinic, certification from the barangay verifying the applicant’s source of livelihood, and application form issued by PESD. Schedule for the profiling sessions are as follows: October 21 in Bambang, October 25 in Solano, October 28 in Bayombong, and October 30 in Dupax del Sur.

“Gov. Gambito took action on this program because he noticed that many traffic violators come from the informal sector. By providing informal workers with access to a free driver’s license and seminars on road safety, he strives to promote safer driving practices,” said Minas.

Obtaining a driver’s license is essential for both work and personal use. Governor Gambito has made this process more accessible, particularly for those in the informal sector, helping to alleviate financial burdens. This initiative is just one of many projects lined up at improving the living conditions of Novo Vizcayanos and enhancing their overall quality of life.

Governor Gambito emphasized the importance of empowering individuals working in informal jobs, which often lack the same benefits and protections as formal employment. “This project is designed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to obtain the necessary licenses to enhance their mobility and employment prospects,” Gov. Gambito stated.

Gov. Gambito’s leadership is crucial to PESD’s overall strategy focused at improving the livelihoods of Novo Vizcayanos. This scheme provides essential support for informal workers to obtain a driver’s license, allowing them to work without the fear of being stopped at LTO checkpoints. /jmcb
