The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has officially launched the eGov.ph platform for Nueva Vizcaya, marking a transformative step toward enhancing public service delivery in the province. Under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, this initiative also includes the introduction of the eLGU (Electronic Local Government Unit) application, part of the national government’s commitment to digitize transactions and improve the efficiency and accessibility of government services for all citizens.
The launching ceremony was held on October 11, 2024, at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, attended by DICT officials from both the regional and central offices, representatives from partner agencies, provincial and municipal officials as well as community members eager to witness this significant step toward digital transformation.
Heherson Asiddao, Undersecretary for Support Services at DICT and the keynote speaker for the ceremony emphasized the critical need for full support from local government units to ensure the project’s success. “The integration phase is the most challenging, where the systems of eGov.ph will be put into place,” Asiddao stated in an interview at the event. He further highlighted that once the eLGU becomes operational, it will greatly assist citizens in conducting transactions with government agencies online, making processes more efficient and user-friendly.
Pinky T. Jimenez, Director of DICT Region 2, also addressed the audience, encouraging Novo Vizcayanos to embrace this digital shift. “I invite everyone to download the eGov app and experience easier access to government services. This is a powerful tool that will make your interactions with local government more convenient and efficient,” she said.
Governor Gambito echoed these sentiments, expressing his enthusiasm for the dual launch. “Today marks a new chapter for Nueva Vizcaya. With the introduction of the eGov.ph platform and the eLGU app, we are not only streamlining government processes but also empowering our citizens with easier access to essential services. This is about making governance more transparent and responsive to the needs of our people.”
The eGov.ph platform will enable residents to conduct various government transactions online, ranging from business permits to civil registrations, significantly reducing the need for in-person visits and paperwork. Meanwhile, the eLGU app serves as a mobile gateway for residents to access local government services, report issues, and receive updates directly from their local officials.
In conjunction with the eGov.ph launch, the event also featured the ceremonial inauguration of the Smart Village initiative, with Barangay Binuangan in Dupax del Norte chosen as the pilot area for this innovative program. The Smart Village initiative aims to equip beneficiaries with the necessary ICT tools and access to connectivity to improve and expand services in healthcare, education, agriculture, and local governance. This program is designed to empower communities by providing them with the technology and resources needed to enhance their quality of life.
Mayor Timothy Joseph E. Cayton expressed his gratitude to the DICT for selecting Barangay Binuangan for this initiative, stating, “We are thankful for this opportunity, and I commit to fully supporting and embracing this program to enhance the lives of our constituents.”
With this ambitious leap into digital governance, Nueva Vizcaya is poised to transform the way its residents interact with their government, making it more efficient, transparent, and accessible for all. As the province embraces this new era of technology, citizens can look forward to a future where government services are just a click away.
