DILG declares 1st time NV SGLG passer

In this morning’s flag raising ceremony, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reaffirmed its commitment to being a trusted partner in local governance, sharing updates on its accomplishments in the province. The event showcased the collaborative efforts of local government units (LGUs) in enhancing governance in the entire Nueva Vizcaya.

DILG Provincial Director Catherine G. Allam-Miranda, announced significant progress made by all LGUs, from barangays to the provincial level, particularly in assessments and audits concerning peace and order, anti-drug abuse initiatives, local child welfare councils, and the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). “For the first time since 2015, Nueva Vizcaya has received a favorable recommendation as an SGLG passer,” PD Miranda stated. The SGLG council is set to convene for the final assessment, marking a decisive moment for the province.

“This achievement is a product of ‘pagtutulungan at pagkakaisa’—cooperation and unity,” PD Miranda emphasized, highlighting the importance of collaboration among local officials and stakeholders. Moreover, the DILG team expressed gratitude for the unending support from the provincial government under Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito for its continuous provision of funding resources especially given the limited financial capacity of the agency. The agency also acknowledged the improvements to the provincial DILG office building and the provision of a service vehicle, which have strengthened their operational capabilities.

Governor Gambito, known for his initiatives promoting good governance, as he always expressed support to the DILG’s efforts in advancing local administration has managed to include in his priorities transparency, accountability, and community engagement, fostering a culture of good governance across Nueva Vizcaya.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting programs that enhance the province’s governance framework, ensuring that all citizens benefit from effective local leadership.

Meanwhile, in the recent presentation of the department’s roadmap, PD Miranda concluded, “We believe that Nueva Vizcaya is aligned with the vision of our roadmap.” The DILG’s ongoing initiatives reflect a shared goal of sustainable development and improved public service, promising a brighter future for the province’s residents. /gpp
