During the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Regional Assessment for the province of Nueva Vizcaya held on June 13, 2024 at the Ammungan Hall, Capitol, Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito delivered a message on how SGLG would serve as an indicator in managing the work performance of all sectors of the provincial government.
“This assessment will spell out everything and will determine not only if I have been a good administrator of the province but more so if my governance is responsive to the needs of my people,” he said. Gov. Gambito expressed confidence in the efforts of the offices under his mandate clearly seeing that every single office is doing everything they can, following his instructions which he believe is fundamental to achieving good governance and ensuring the well-being of every Vizcayano. Highlighting ongoing developments, Gov. Gambito mentioned that he is currently focusing on the beautification and improvement of the Provincial Capitol Compound, describing his initiative as a personal priority, saying that the capitol compound is every Vizcayano’s house, thus his desire to enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of the Provincial Capitol to make it a more welcoming and dignified space for all citizens.
The governor also took pride in the various innovative projects launched under his administration. “I am proud to say that my administration has launched several innovations, all of which are under my flagship, and I must say that all these projects are responsive to what my people needs.” These initiatives, he explained, are designed to address the specific needs and aspirations of the community, reflecting a governance that prioritizes community welfare, “because I know what my people feel and what my people need as I always reach out to them,” he affirmed.
Highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs in the delivery of public service, the SGLG assessment underwent two phases: the on-site validation of the LGU facilities, buildings, and structures, and the evaluation of the documents to support the SGLG requirements and criteria.
To be able to get the seal, LGUs need to pass all 10 governance including Financial Administration & Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection & Sensitivity; Safety, Peace and Order; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business Friendliness & Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, and Youth Development. /gpp
