The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Governor’s Office-Persons with Disability Affairs Division (GO-PDAD), marked the National Disability Rights Week with a special celebration on July 24, 2024, at the DepEd Division Office in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
The event brought together learners with disability from various Special Education Centers in the province, along with their teachers and parents, to commemorate the occasion.
Ms. Perlita A. Atendido, Executive Assistant III, representing Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, delivered a message of support to the learners, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and empowerment for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Hilda Aragon of DepEd extended a warm welcome to the guests and participants, setting the tone for a day of reflection, celebration, and advocacy for disability rights.
Ms. Venus R. Cadabona, Disability Affairs Officer III of GO-PDAD, expressed her gratitude to the DepEd family for their unwavering support in activities involving learners with disability. She also acknowledged Governor Gambito in promoting inclusivity and providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to thrive and succeed.
The highlight of the celebration was the search for Mr. and Ms. Possibility, a heartwarming competition that showcased the talents, abilities, and potential of learners with disability. Candidates from Bayombong and Aritao captivated the audience and judges, emerging as the winners, symbolizing the spirit of possibility and empowerment that defines the National Disability Rights Week.
The event served as a venue for recognizing the talents, strengths, and capabilities of learners with disability, promoting a culture of inclusivity, respect, and advocacy for disability rights in Nueva Vizcaya. /mvs
