Governor Gambito Highlights Tourism’s Economic Impact at ITOPCOP Training Launch

“Tourism is a cornerstone of our province’s economy,” declared Governor Jose V. Gambito as he delivered an inspiring message at the opening of the Integrated Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (ITOPCOP) Training. The event, organized by the Department of Tourism – Region 2 (DOT-R2) in partnership with the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO), commenced on July 1,2024 at Ammungan Hall, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

Governor Gambito emphasized the vital role of the police force in maintaining peace and order, which significantly boosts tourism. He encouraged the participating police officers to support the province’s tourism industry by serving tourists and the community with a smile, thereby enhancing visitors’ experiences and promoting a welcoming atmosphere.

“The presence of a well-trained and hospitable police force not only ensures safety but also enriches the overall experience for our visitors. This, in turn, propels our tourism industry forward and contributes substantially to our economic growth,” Governor Gambito stated.

Board Member Eunice Galima-Gambol, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Culture and Arts, also welcomed the attendees, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting tourism in Nueva Vizcaya.

Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Director PCOL Camlon P. Nasdoman, representing Regional Director PBGen Christopher C. Birung, delivered a message from the Philippine National Police, urging the officers to embrace their roles as both protectors and ambassadors of tourism.

The ITOPCOP training, which runs until July 4, 2024, is a comprehensive program aimed at providing police officers with essential tourism concepts and instilling values that will make them effective tourist police. The training seeks to enhance the officers’ ability to serve and protect while fostering a hospitable environment for tourists.
