Watershed Management Intensifies Programs

The Nueva Vizcaya Watershed Management Committee (NVWMC) discussed updates of its on-going projects, updates on the proposed formulation of the Integrated Water Management Plant, and the presentation of the two versions of the Nueva Vizcaya Map, during its 6th Regular Meeting on June 25, 2026, at the NV Livelihood and Pasalubong Center.

Acting PENARO Head, Forester Arlene S. Tarranco, prompted NVWMC members complete support in protecting the different watersheds in the province, including the different species of wildlife and fauna residing in the areas. Some of these, which were already at risk of extinction, should be highly prioritized by the committee for protection and preservation.

Another important agenda discussed was the presentation of the two versions of the Nueva Vizcaya Map. The versions shown were the map used by the Provincial Government and the other used by the other agencies. Comparing the two versions, the version used by the other agencies have missing hectares of land area. The committee offers to further discuss which version of the map to be used by different agencies for uniformity.

NVWMC’s projects and ongoing efforts ensures the coordination of the committee and the different stakeholders in order to accomplish the different programs that will help strengthen the conservation, rehabilitation, and protection of the watersheds in the province. /akagb
