In the aftermath of Typhoon Uwan, the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Employees Association (NVPEA) and Kasibu Municipal Hospital (KMH) conducted an early Christmas gift distribution for 100 affected families in Purok 5 and 6 at Antutot, Kasibu on December 21, 2025.

Led by NVPEA President Jolinda P. Cambas and KMH Chief Dr. Lucena P. Caldito, the gift-giving included sacks of rice, canned goods, clothing, and other basic necessities donated by various provincial government offices and was all delivered straight to the doors of those hit hardest by the storm.

“This is just the start, we are coming back in January with a second batch to reach even more families,” Cambas announced.

Cambas also extended gratitude to the donors. “I want to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to every single donor from our provincial government offices especially to the “Gayyem Ti Umili” Governor Jose V. Gambito for the sacks of rice we solicited from him. You did not just give items, but you also gave hope. The way you dropped everything to make sure these families have something to celebrate this Christmas shows the true character of Novo Vizcayanos. We are so grateful for your kindness and willingness to stand with those in need.”

“We could not have pulled this off without the overwhelming generosity of our provincial government offices. Every office stepped up from supplying canned goods and clothing to providing basic necessities and with Governor Gambito’s rice adding so much value to what we could give. The commitment to helping fellow Novo Vizcayanos warms our hearts,” Cambas added.

For KMH, the initiative is part of its beloved “Adopt A Family Program” which this year marks a decade of spreading joy. “Ten years of doing this, and every year, the outpouring gets bigger,” Dr. Caldito shared. “Shoutout to Governor Gambito for the solicited sacks of rice, local businesses, and individual donors who jumped in the moment they heard about the typhoon. This is community spirit in its purest form, people looking out for people.”

Residents of Antutot expressed sincere gratitude for the timely assistance, with many noting that the aid has renewed their sense of hope for the holiday season despite the damage caused by Typhoon Uwan. A resident of Purok 6 emphasized that the support from fellow Novo Vizcayanos has strengthened the community’s bond in the face of adversity. /𝒎𝒄𝒄𝒅
