The skills competition is part of the activities lined up by the BFP-NV for this year’s celebration of Fire Prevention Month in the province, with the theme: “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” (You are not alone in preventing fires).

The observance of Fire Prevention Month is based on Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, which designates March as a time to raise awareness and promote fire safety throughout the country.

The BFP envisions itself as a modern fire service agency fully capable of ensuring a fire-safe nation. This national agency, through its offices spread across the archipelago, commits to: prevent and suppress destructive fires and investigate their causes; enforce the provisions of the Fire Code and related laws; and respond to disasters and other emergencies. It recognizes though that fire prevention is a shared responsibility and encourages everyone to take simple precautions and practice fire safety at all times.

Witnessing the occasion were national and provincial government officials and personnel led by: Board Member (BM) and Floor Leader Patricio F. Dumlao, Jr.; BM Roland M. Carub, BM Eufemia A. Dacayo; BM Florante S. Gerdan; BM Pablo P. Kindot; BM and Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Elma Pinao-An Lejao; BM Primo Percival J. Marcos; and Ex officio BM/Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Samuel G. Balinhawang.

The early morning activity was spiced up by the cultural dance numbers performed by the Naughty and Vibrant (NVBFP) Dance Troupe, winner of the Musiklaban Dance Competition spearheaded just recently by the BFP-Region 02 Office.
