GCMP: Nurture our beloved nation’s independence and freedom

Governor Carlos M. Padilla and NVSU OIC-President Ruth R. Padilla led the officers and staff of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) and National Government Agencies (NGAs) in the 124th anniversary celebration of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held at the Provincial Capitol in Bayombong.

This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon Ng Panibagong Bukas (Rise Towards The Challenge Of A New Beginning)”.

The 12th-of-June solemn rites executed by enlisted men and women from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) headed by NVPPO Chief PCol Ranser A. Evasco included the traditional wreath-laying ceremony, 7-gun salute, and hoisting of the Philippine Flag pursuant to Executive Order No. 79-S1994 which extended the celebration of the National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12.

Spicing up the day’s event were the intermission numbers rendered by Saint Mary’s University‘s Ms. Nieves Perlyn C. Rosario (Song), Mr. Junmark M. Carbonel (Interpretative Dance), and Mr. Joshua D. Bogbog (Tagalog Hip-hop).

In his commemoration speech, Governor Padilla exalted the nation’s patriots spanning from the time of the Spanish colonizers up to the 2nd world war, along with our modern-day heroes, for the deep sense of patriotism and even “ultimate sacrifices” that they unselfishly offered for the sake of our beloved country and people.

Taking pride in the Philippines’ feat of being the “first democratic Asian nation”, Governor Padilla also challenged everyone to help nurture it, as we all enjoy the fruits of independence and freedom.

“Our government and civil servants, in general, are here to conscientiously serve all the people and not only a few; the members of our agriculture, business, education, and other sectors must do their part with a similar passion as well; and our citizenry should be vigilant, responsible, and law-abiding at all times,” he expounded.

He commended the members of the Executive Committee headed by Provincial Administrator Maybelle Dumlao-Sevillena for their earnest efforts in preparing for the event, as he also thanked all those who came to participate in the celebration which was aired live via social media.
