The Metro-Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) North Luzon Tour 2026 set the fourth stage of its 5-leg tour from Nueva Ecija to Nueva Vizcaya, with the Provincial Capitol Compound as the finish line on May 2, 2026.
The tour is an organized collaborative effort by SDMI Sports, Mad Management Inc, and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. For the fourth stage spanning Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, to the municipality of Bayombong, the collaboration was set with the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya headed by Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito. With tourism as one of the primary concerns of the PGNV, Governor Gambito presented this as an opportunity to draw attention to Nueva Vizcaya’s natural attractions.
The North Luzon Tour is a 14-stage international road race with participants not only from within the Philippines, but Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, China, the Middle East, etc. The race will run from April 29, 2026 to May 13, 2026, spanning 1800 kilometers, 5 regions, and 13 provinces in North Luzon. The starting stage was set in Tagaytay City and ended in Pampanga, the second stage continuing from that point to Nueva Ecija, and the fourth stage in Nueva Vizcaya. Subsequent settings will take the racers from Santiago City, Isabela, to Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; the municipality of Pagudpud to the municipality of Paoay in Ilocos Norte; Ilocos Norte capital Laoag City to Candon City and Bessang Pass in Ilocos Sur; San Juan to Agoo in La Union; and Lingayen, Pangasinan, to the tour’s end point in Baguio City, Benguet.
As far as the fourth stage, Russian cyclist Ivan Asinimov was first over the finish line, closely followed by Korean cyclist Jung Hoon Lee, and Filipino Ronnilan Quita. The awards ceremony took place on the Peoples’ Stage in the Capitol Compound, wherein the race officials were welcomed by the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, Saniata ti Nueva Vizcaya 2025 Karen Guieb, Liza Gambito representing Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, Bayombong Mayor Antonio Bagasao, and NV cycling legend Domingo Quilban.
The wholehearted participation and welcome of the provincial government to national and international bodies is essential in elevating the profile and standing of Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
