PGNV launches Likhang Kamay III: Sisidlan

The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV), through former Governor Ruth R. Padilla, the incumbent Provincial Tourism Council Chairperson, launched this morning, February 7, 2022, at the People’s Museum and Library, Bayombong, “Likhang Kamay: Sisidlan” art exhibit, which is part of the provincial celebration of the Arts Month.

According to Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Marichelle O. Costales, this year’s episode of the Likhang Kamay series features the works of art of local artisans Antonio C. Dumlao, Sr., and Servelita P. Mortela of Bantinan, Santa Fe, and Comon, Aritao, respectively.

Mr. Dumlao, an expert in making “Pasiking” and “Walis Tambo”, learned the skills from his parents. He started producing and marketing his native products at the age of 18, and for the past 20 years or so has been active in teaching the youth in his community, including his children and other relatives, about this native craft.

Ms. Mortela, who also learned the craft from her parents was already an expert in pottery at the young age of 14. She began selling her produce when she was 23. She continues practicing her craft with her youngest son and the latter’s son who had also shown great interest in pottery.
