PGNV employees join NEAM through “Pulot Basura”

Pursuant to Provincial Ordinance No. 2013-084, based on Republic Act No. 9512 or the National Awareness and Education Act of 2008, the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV) and the province at large has been joining in the annual commemoration of the National Environmental Awareness Month (NEAM).

One of the activities lined up for this year’s celebration is the “Pulot Basura sa loob ng Kapitolyo” held on November 22, 2022 wherein employees from provincial and national government offices inside the Capitol Compound participated.

According to the Provincial Environmental Awareness and Education Team (PEAET), which was tasked to plan and coordinate various activities for this year’s celebration, the “Pulot Basura” was intended to help maintain the cleanliness of the Provincial Capitol and reinforce the knowledge and practices of the civil servants on waste management and disposal.

Prior to this activity, Provincial Administrator (PA) Maybelle Dumlao-Sevillena issued an advisory on “Basura Mo, Iuwi Mo”, which was prompted by the emerging problem of improper segregation of wastes emanating from the Provincial Capitol, as communicated to her office by Provincial General Services Officer (PGSO) Emilie R. Ganacias.  “This resulted in a series of rejections of Provincial Capitol wastes by the Bayombong dumpsite authorities”, PGSO Ganacias explained.  According to PA Sevillena, the advisory covers only the personal trash/garbage of employees.

PA Sevillena expressed her appreciation and gratitude to Governor Carlos M. Padilla for his support and to all her fellow civil servants who actively participated in the day’s activity, which, she said, is a clear manifestation of unity of intention and action for our mother nature. #mvs
