Nueva Vizcaya Declared Insurgency-Free Province by Tripartite Council on Security

In a joint effort to maintain peace and security in the province, the Tripartite Council on Security of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, comprised of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTC ELCAC), passed a resolution during its 4th quarter regular meeting, officially declaring Nueva Vizcaya as an insurgency-free province.

This resolution follows the joint resolution signed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on October 10, 2023, recommending Nueva Vizcaya as an insurgency-free province in a state of stable internal peace and security. The joint resolution stated that there have been no reported NPA-initiated non-violent incidents in the past year, indicating that the insurgency in the area is inactive. The AFP also reported that they have successfully disbanded NPA groups in the province.

This declaration marks a significant achievement for Nueva Vizcaya, which was once plagued by the presence of communist rebels. The resolution acknowledges the combined efforts of various government agencies, local government units, and stakeholders in eradicating the threat and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

During the joint meeting, Governor Atty Jose V Gambito expressed his gratitude to all those involved in achieving this milestone. He commended the dedication and sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel and emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation to prevent any resurgence of insurgent activities.

“Stable peace and security are the bedrock of any thriving province. They are the backbone that supports economic growth, social development, and overall prosperity. In Nueva Vizcaya, we are committed to fostering an environment where peace and security are not just aspirations, but the reality for every resident. This declaration of being an insurgency-free province is a testament to our collective efforts towards that goal,” said Governor Gambito.

The declaration of Nueva Vizcaya as an insurgency-free province is expected to have positive implications for the province. It will boost investor confidence, attract more economic opportunities, and pave the way for further development initiatives, infrastructure projects, and tourism prospects. /rmi
