SPNV honors music artist

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Nueva Vizcaya (SPNV) passed Resolution No. 2022-4023 on January 10, 2022 in honor of Mr. Redino “Red” Gumayagay, Champion of the Amianan Pop Songwriting Festival Grand Finals held on December 4, 2021.

This Songwriting Festival is the first project of AmiananPop Music Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization that aims to champion the beauty and diversity of contemporary pop music in North Luzon and its peripheral regions.

Red said that his winning entry song, entitled “ARAPAAP” (Ilocano word for Dream), is the sequel of his open-ended song “ARISE” that made him the Grand Winner of New York City’s Songwriting Contest in 2017. “ARAPAAP” describes his disappointment of not having been able to fly to the USA to record his song as part of his prize, and his sheer determination to keep on pursuing his dreams.

This young man whose family hails from Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya is a singer-composer-recording artist of Northern Root Records, and SPOTIFY.COM, a multinational audio streaming and media services provider with over 406 million monthly active users, including 180 million paying subscribers, as of December 2021.

His other remarkable achievements include: Provincial and Regional Champion in the DILG’s 2020 CORE Songwriting Contest; Winner, along with “Born to be a Star” Finalist Nicole Hope Salvador, in the DOH-R02’s 2020 Mental Health Songwriting Contest; and Grand Champion, along with his “Never The Cool Kids” partners Ruth Lee Resuello and Bro Justin, in the 2021 Amazing Hope Outreach Network (AHON) Songwriting Contest and 2021 Friedrich Naumann Foundation Freedom Song Contest.

Board Member Patricio F. Dumlao, Jr., who concurrently serves as Floor Leader of the SPNV and Chairperson of its Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Awards, sponsored the Resolution.

BM Dumlao explained that the SPNV had been giving due recognition to Novo Vizcayanos for their remarkable feats, as they don’t only bring pride and honor to the Province but also inspire our provincemates to emulate their achievements or to accomplish even more.

He said that among those high achievers whom they have also given commendations were: Ms. Xyza Cruz Bacani, a winner in various international photography and documentation contests; Dr. Ian Cary Bolante Prado, Topnotcher in the 2019 Veterinarian Licensure Examination; Mr. Simon Philip M. Alejandrino, one of the few students who were offered admission by top universities of the world; Mr. Adolfo Quewigh and his wife Sublina, both recognized as Katutubong Manlilikha ng Nueva Vizcaya; and Dr. Lovella Gamponia Velasco, a Civil Service Commission PAG-ASA Awardee.
