The 12th Sangguniang Panlalawigan enacted Ordinance No.2026-288 an ordinance declaring the month of June as “Nueva Vizcaya Social Workers’ Month” and June 19 of every year as “Nueva Vizcaya Social Workers’ Day” authored by Hon.Dawn Ranee V. Algura during its regular session on May 18,2026.

Signed by Gov. Atty. Jose V. Gambito, the ordinance aims to recognize and honor the dedication, compassion, service, and contributions of all registered social workers in the province in both government and non-government sectors. It also seeks to encourage public awareness and participation in activities that highlight the importance of social work in social protection, community development, and nation-building.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) shall be the lead implementing office and tasked with creating the Technical Working Group composed of the different social welfare organizations in the province to ensure the effective management of the annual celebration. The group shall implement activities that will include the recognition and awarding of outstanding social workers and social welfare agencies, conducting activities such as lectures, workshops, and forums for continuing professional development, public awareness campaigns showcasing the vital role of social workers in nation building, and simultaneous activities conducted by various MSWDOs at the municipal level and other settings to ensure province-wide participation.

The declaration of the Social Workers’ Month reflects the provincial government’s commitment in recognizing and acknowledging the hard work and dedication of social workers. Through this ordinance, the province joins efforts to celebrate and uplift social workers whose tireless service continues to make a positive difference in the lives of countless individuals and families.

Provincial officials, headed by Gov. Gambito express their gratitude to all social workers and encouraged the public to participate in activities that promote appreciation and understanding of the profession throughout the month of June. /agb
