RTC South Continues Dispensation of Justice

The Regional Trial Court South District spearheaded the Flag Raising Ceremony on April 20, 2026, which was attended by Congressman Timothy Cayton, Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, Vice Governor Eufemia A. Dacayo, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, gathering with the provincial government to hear the accomplishments of RTC South for the first quarter of 2026.

The Office of the Clerk of Court at RTC Bambang reported on distributing a total of 459 filed cases from January to December 2025, with 129 filed in the first quarter alone. However, they also stated that a reduced rate of cases filed in 2025 compared to 2026 – 129 to 88 – held a ‘positive implication’ in terms of order and case disposition.

RTC Branch 30 divulged that there had 374 filed cases in 2025, of which there were 137 criminal cases and 45 civil cases. Of those 374 cases, 176 criminal suits and 45 civil suits were disposed. For the first quarter of 2026, Branch 30 saw 54 more cases filed, 44 of which were criminal and 10 civil. 37 criminal cases and 10 civil cases have so far been disposed, leaving 272 criminal and 89 civil cases ongoing for the RTC.

For RTC Branch 37, they counted 516 disposed cases for 2025, of which 461 were criminal cases, with others being land registration cases (25), ordinary civil actions (15), special proceedings (9), and others. RTC Branch 37 boasted a 230% disposal rate for 2025, with their target of 224 disposals having been far exceeded. From December 2025 to March 2026, they had disposed of 111 cases out of 176 pending, making their disposal rate 31.62%.

Both Congressman Cayton and Governor Gambito praised the RTC for their performance in the past year, with Governor Gambito reiterating the province’s peaceful status and commending their contribution to this achievement. The congressman thanked RTC South District Judge Paul Attolba for the invitation and stated that his presence signified his support for the RTC and the provincial government.

Governor Gambito also pointed out that despite coming from different parties, the unity and cooperation between and among officials was essential for the smooth operation and resultant good condition for the constituency of the province. /igmb
