Nine hundred ninety two (992) farmers from the different municipalities of the province were gathered at the Peoples Stage on January 29, 2020, for the distribution of Php 5,000.00 cash assistance following the implementation of the Rice Tarrification Law (RTL)
The Rice Farmers Financial Assistance Program (RFFAP) is a government cash dole-out project that is part of its immediate intervention to help rice farmers during the transition phase of the implementation of RTL.
“Ito po ay tulong pinansyal na bigay ng ating gobyerno dahil sa biglaang pagbaba ng presyo ng palay, at hindi pautang, kaya wala pong dapat alalahanin ang ating mga magsasaka. ,” Ramon Sagadraca, Agriculturist II and Rice Program Focal Person explained, stressing that the cash transfer is available to farmers tilling 0.5 to 2 hectares of farmland.
Sagadraca also said that the P5,000.00 assistance can be used by the recipients to start a livelihood project of their choice. “Although , we are not requiring them for any project design for the livelihood opportunities they will have to establish, we at the agriculture sector are always ready to help them in the implementation of their business plans . ” he said.
Meanwhile, Sagadraca said that as of this date, farmer-beneficiaries from the eight (8) municipalities of the province were able to receive their cash assistance, as they’re still awaiting for the masterlists from the 7 other towns. # gloria
