The Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO) led by Provincial Tourism Officer Marichelle O. Costales detailed the extensive contests and events set for the 2026 celebration of National Arts Month in Nueva Vizcaya during the Taripnong press conference on February 12, 2026, hosted by the Public Affairs and Information Assistance Division of the Governor’s Office.

The National Arts Month celebration, while observed for the entire month of February, will commence on February 20, 2026, and will continue to February 27, 2026. The celebration will include both competitive and non-competitive performances, as well as educational seminar and one launch of a tourism mainstay.

The first day of the celebration will commence with a Spoken Word Poetry performance, followed by the Awarding Ceremony of the 1st Nueva Vizcaya Film Festival, launched during the previous 2025 Tourism Month and “Linggo ng Kabataan” celebration. The Nueva Vizcaya Film Makers Assembly will also take place on the first day, at the FTM Building in Bayombong.

The following day, February 21, will have a greater volume of performances, with the “Garaw Vizcayano” dance competition, Drag Performance, and Busking taking place in the Peoples’ Museum. The Skate Competition will also take place in the adjoining Skate Park, while a Cosplay Parade will kick off this second day of celebrations along Don Tomas Maddela Street.

The Learning Sessions on Culture and Arts will take place on February 25 in the Ammungan Hall of the Capitol Compound, with resource speakers Christian Fernandez, an archaeologist from University of the Philippines; Maria Inez Mania, retired professor from Saint Mary’s University; and Marlon M. Martin, the CEO of the Save the Ifugao Terraces Movement, invited to share their expertise on such topics relevant to culture and arts in the province.

The NueHabiskaya Loom Weaving Circuit, a cultural tour of the province’s weaving workshops, will officially launch on February 27. The circuit will take its prospective tourists through the major weaving centers in the province, from Bagabag to Quezon to Kasibu to Dupax del Sur. Throughout the celebration, a pop-up market collaboration with Gumorning will be present at the Peoples’ Museum to showcase local products by Novo Vizcayano creators.

The PTCO expressed a desire to re-engage the youth of Nueva Vizcaya to literature, dance, music, through the celebration. The involvement of local creators as well as the academe in both entertaining and educational activities may yet achieve this goal of reigniting the spirit of art in Novo Vizcayano youth. /igmb
