In their efforts to maintain dialogue with the different municipalities within the province, the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO) conducted a Coordination and Alignment Meeting with the municipal tourism officers on June 25, 2026, at Saber Inn, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Members of the Nueva Vizcaya Farm Tourism Stakeholders Association were also in attendance.
Provincial Tourism Council chairperson Ruth R. Padilla welcomed the attending municipal officers, laying the expectation for ‘intelligently identifying’ and discussing problems and solutions. Chairperson Padilla also reiterated the goal of boosting the tourism industry in the province, commending the NVFTSA for the initiative of its creation and pointing out that Nueva Vizcaya is the first in the region to have an association for farm tourism.
PTCO Marichelle Costales would then present the NV Tourism Road Map, detailing not only the ongoing projects of the office, but also the upcoming five-year goals. The current focus is on the promotion and development of the province as a nature and adventure tourism hub, with resources marshalled toward the reopening of the Bagabag Airport and the establishment of air sports in the province.
The PTCO would also go on to present their booklet on the Mountains of Nueva Vizcaya, selecting twenty from the municipalities of Ambaguio, Aritao, Bayombong, Bagabag, Dupax del Sur, Kasibu, Kayapa, Quezon, Santa Fe, Solano, and Villaverde. Each hike was rated on a scale of 1-10 based on timescale of climb and trail class. Among those included are Kayapa’s renowned Alang-Salacsac Quadpeak, Solano’s Mt. Singian, and the Rolling Hills of Bagabag.
The municipal tourism officers of Dupax del Sur, Dupax del Norte, Kayapa, Kasibu, Alfonso Castaneda, and Quezon also gave presentations on their best practices as tourism officers, the sites and attractions of their respective municipalities, and the general deficits and immediate needs of said sites. Among these are struggles with accessibility due to lack of roads and trails, lack of adequate accommodations, lack of appropriate signage, and underdevelopment in certain areas.
The NVFTSA also took the opportunity to advertise their circuit, which spans both north and south district and includes at least ten farms, offering a variety of adventure- and agriculture-based experiences.
The partnership and collaboration among all local government units and private tourism is essential to fulfill the goals of tourism industry growth and boosted economy in Nueva Vizcaya. /igmb
