Provincial nutrition awards held
The provincial government headed by Governor Carlos M. Padilla, through the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC), held the Provincial Nutrition Awarding Ceremony during the culmination of the 2018 Nutrition Month Celebration on August 8 at the People’s Stage, Capitol.
Plaques, certificates and cash incentives were awarded to Barangay Nutrition Scholars, nutrition committees, and entities who were instrumental in the implementation of nutrition programs in the province.
The top 5 outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committees (BNC) were Salvacion of Bayombong (1st), Pieza of Villaverde (2nd), Poblacion North of Solano (3rd), Ineangan of Dupax del Norte (4th), and Lublub of Alfonso Castañeda (5th).
The municipality of Santa Fe topped the outstanding Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC), followed by Villaverde, Solano, Bagabag and Kasibu, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively.
Last July 31 at the PICC as the province received the National Honor Award (NHA), Santa Fe also received the CROWN Award, while Villaverde was also given special recognition as its practices in nutrition were featured in the Coffee Table Book on the Compendium of Actions in Nutrition published by the National Nutrition Council.
During the program, Governor Padilla shared the pride and joy of being a recipient of the NHA. He recognized the outstanding support and performances of LGUs, NGOs, other sectors and most especially the BNSs in the nutrition program implementation.
BNS Josephine Degamo of Salvacion Bayombong was the outstanding BNS in the province. Minerva Arcangel of Pieza, Villaverde was second; Juliana Aninto of Binuangan, Dupax del Norte was third; while Rozeil Lopez of Tucal, Solano and Janette Villanueva of Carolotan, Dupax del Sur were fourth and fifth placers, respectively.
The top 5 outstanding awardees were also given cash incentives coming from the nutrition and Governor’s funds. Consolation prizes were also given to 10 other evaluated BNCs and 8 BNSs. The National Nutrition Council had also given incentives to the 12 other areas evaluated by the National Evaluating Team last May. #bg
