PGNV, DA Distributes El Niño Assistance to Farmers

Farmers across Nueva Vizcaya received vital support from the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya PGNV), under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, through the Provincial Agricultural Office (PAgrO) headed by Absalom Rizal D. Baysa, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), during the ceremonial awarding of El Niño mitigation and adaptaion assistance on July 28, 2026 at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, Capitol, Bayombong.

The Department of Agriculture allocated ₱42.4 million worth of agricultural farm inputs to help farmers strengthen their resilience against the adverse effects of El Niño in the province. The assistance aims to support agricultural production and promote climate-resilience farming practices amid prolonged dry conditions.

The program benefited eight (Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and fifteen (15) Local Government Units (LGUs) across Nueva Vizcaya. The distributed farm inputs were sweet potato cuttings, mungbean seeds, onion, garlic planting materials, organic fertilizers and pallets.

Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Research and Regulations Kay S. Olivas, expressed her sincere appreciation to Governor Gambito for his unwavering support. She emphasized that the agricultural inputs are more than just assistance-they are investments in the future that will help farmers become more resilient to the challenges brought by climate change.

Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito reaffirmed that the welfare of farmers remains a top priority of his administration. He expressed his sincere gratitude to all government agencies and partners for their continued support of Nueva Vizcaya’s agricultural sector.

The Governor also highlighted the province’s achievement as a first-class province and one of the fastest-growing provinces in the Philippines. He encouraged everyone to remain united and continue working together to sustain the province’s progress, assuring Novo Vizcayanos of his steadfast commitment to further improved Nueva Vizcaya.

Through timely interventions and strong collaboration with its partners, the Provincial Government remains committed to ensuring food security and building a more resilient and sustainable agriculture sector for the province. /ctu
