
In celebration of National Environmental Awareness and Education Month, the finalists of the “Pasiklaban sa Proyektong Makakalikasan” showcased their innovative eco-projects during the final presentation held on December 4, 2025, at the Provincial Treasury Function Hall, Executive Building, Capitol, Bayombong.
The competition featured five participating schools such as the Sta. Fe National High School, Bambang National High School, Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS), Dippog National High School, and Bintawan National High School.
Served as judges were Engr. Maria Jonem P. Gacad from the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Juliet Udaundo of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Clarenet Balderas of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Their expertise guided the evaluation of each school’s environmental project, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
Dippog National High School emerged as the champion with Project DRIVES (Disciplined and Resourceful Implementation of Viable and Enhanced SWM in School), an enhanced Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) initiative aimed at strengthening solid waste management practices within their campus.
Sta. Fe National High School secured 1st runner-up for Plasti-Brix, a project that transforms plastic waste into sustainable construction eco-bricks. Meanwhile, Bintawan National High School took 2nd runner-up with Plastic KaBag, an initiative that converts plastic litter into reusable tote bags.
Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) earned the 3rd runner-up spot for Project KABUTE, which promotes mushroom cultivation using recycled plastic bottles. Rounding off the top finalists was Bambang National High School, awarded 4th runner-up for Project VIBE, a vertical bioelectric garden system that generates mini-power inspired by hydroponics.
The provincial competition, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito and implemented through Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENARO) headed by Arlene S. Tarranco, highlights the creativity and environmental commitment of Nueva Vizcaya’s youth, underscoring the importance of eco-friendly innovations in addressing today’s sustainability challenges. The winners were awarded on the same day in the afternoon at Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center (CMPCC), Capitol Compound, Bayombong. #jmcb
