PENARO recognizes ‘Green’ Advocates

The provincial government under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, through Provincial Environmental Awareness and Education Team – Technical Working Group (PEAET- TWG) of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENARO) headed by Acting Head Arlene S. Tarranco concluded the National Environmental Awareness and Education Month with a culminating and awarding ceremony held at Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center (CMPCC), Capitol Compound, Bayombong on December 4, 2025.

The ceremony featured the recognition of winners for the Search for “Makakalikasang Barangay” 2025, “Pasiklaban sa Proyektong Makakalikasan” 2025, and “Sayawit Para Sa Kalikasan” 2025. These competitions showcased outstanding community initiatives and youth-led efforts that promoted environmental protection and sustainability across the province.

The success of the celebration was made possible through the strong partnership and coordinated efforts of provincial government through PENARO and its PEAET-TWG members, composed with Schools Division Office- DepEd, Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Saint Mary’s University (SMU), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENROs), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Nueva Vizcaya, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Information Technology Division (PITD) of the Governor’s office, Public Affairs and Information Assistance Division (PAIAD) of the Governor’s office, and various agencies and organizations. Their collaboration ensured effective implementation of programs and the active participation of schools and barangays in promoting environmental awareness.

Dippog National High School emerged as the champion for the “Pasiklaban sa Proyektong Makakalikasan” 2025, while Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) secured both the championship title and the People’s Choice Award for their entry in “Sayawit Para Sa Kalikasan” 2025. In the Search for “Makakalikasang Barangay” 2025, Barangay Malabing, Kasibu was recognized as the winner in the upland category, and Barangay Poblacion, Villaverde won in the lowland category.

Overall, the competitions spotlighted the creativity, talent and innovation of the participants while strengthening the province’s advocacy for sustainable environmental action. The event emphasized the important role of communities, schools, and partner agencies in nurturing eco-conscious practices and sustaining actions toward a province committed to sustainability. #jmcb
