The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), headed by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Robert L. Corpuz, spearheaded the flag-raising ceremony on July 6,2026, at the People’s Stage, Capitol, Bayombong, as part of their Kick-Off for National Disaster Resilience Month.
Robert L. Corpuz announced the Province’s participation in commemorating the National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme “Naghahanda at Kumikilos Tungo sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas”. Mr.Corpuz stated that through the leadership of Governor Jose V. Gambito, and the support of the PDRRM Council, the PDRRMO continues its mandate to strengthen disaster preparedness, response capability, mitigation efforts, and rehabilitation support to Novo Vizcayanos.
During the ceremony, the PDRRMO reported its accomplishments for the first semester of 2026. The distribution of ‘GO-BAG TI UMILI’ to the different municipalities. On the first semester of 2026, 1,114 GO Bags were distributed in Aritao, 869 were distributed in Kayapa, Dupax Del Sur and Dupax Del Norte, and 1,130 were distributed in Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur and Kayapa.
In the field of Administration and Training, the office has conducted 25 Basic Life Support Trainings and 23 Standard First Aid Trainings. These trainings were conducted for the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Offices, Municipal Health Offices, barangay officials, various hospitals, educational institutions, national agencies of the government, the Police Provincial Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and staff of the PDRRMO.
The PDRRMO also conducted various capacity enhancement programs such as Ambulance Operations Training for Saint Mary’s University, Basic Water Safety Training for nursing students and teachers of Aldersgate College, Basic Water Safety and Survival Skills, and Camp Coordination and Camp Management and Internally Displaced Persons Protection Training with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) for the staff of Barangay LGUs.
The office also implemented the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drills not only in the Provincial Capitol but also in schools and local governments in different municipalities. Through this activity, the preparedness of institutions was significantly strengthened, and the importance of proper rescue procedures, effective coordination, and rapid response during an earthquake was demonstrated.
After the flag ceremony, the PDRRMO started its Kick-Off Celebration through a Motorcade together with the different emergency and law enforcement agencies in the province.
Mr. Corpuz stated, disaster resilience is not solely the task of the PDRRMO, it is a shared responsibility. When every citizen is prepared, every family becomes safer, when every community takes action, the entire province becomes more resilient. #akagb
