Along with the successful conduct of the first-ever “Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan” in the province, the OWWA Nueva Vizcaya Sub-Office was formally inaugurated on July 7, 2026, marking a significant milestone in bringing social protection and essential services closer to Novo Vizcayano Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), returning OFWs, and their families.
With the establishment of the new sub-office (located beside the Public Employment Service Division (PESD) at the Nightingale Hall, Capitol), OFWs from Nueva Vizcaya and neighboring provinces will no longer need to travel long distances to access essential OWWA services. Membership registration and renewal, welfare assistance, scholarship, livelihood and reintegration programs, insurance benefits, and other services are now more accessible, allowing clients to save time, reduce travel costs, and receive assistance more efficiently.
The formal inauguration was led by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, Vice Governor Eufemia A. Dacayo, OWWA Regional Welfare Office II Regional Director Virsie A. Tamayao, and PESO Provincial Manager Dolly Rose Minas. The establishment of the sub-office reflects the strong partnership among OWWA, the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya (PGNV), and local stakeholders in ensuring that vital government services reach OFWs and their families more effectively.
During the “Serbisyo Caravan.” Governor Gambito renewed his call for more national government agencies to establish satellite offices within the Provincial Capitol to spare Novo Vizcayanos the cost, time, and inconvenience of traveling outside the province to access government services. He noted that the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and OWWA are now operating at the Provincial Capitol.
“The Office of the Governor is willing to help provide what national government offices need, as long as they establish their presence here in the province so our people will no longer have difficulty availing themselves of their services,” Governor Gambito said.
The governor also highlighted the provincial government’s continuing support for migrant workers through initiatives such as the OFW Welfare Center, which helps OFWs and the families they leave behind by addressing welfare concerns, promoting financial literacy, and responding to other essential needs.
More than just a new government office, the OWWA Nueva Vizcaya Sub-Office is a strong commitment of OWWA in bringing its programs and services directly to OFW communities. It ensures that more overseas Filipino workers and their families can conveniently access the protection, opportunities, and support they deserve at every stage of their migration journey.
From Filipino communities across the globe to provinces throughout the country, OWWA continues to bring “Alagang OWWA” closer to the people it serves, making government services more accessible and empowering more OFWs and their families to build a more secure and prosperous future. #bgl
