PICTAB approves NV’s ICT Roadmap 2023-2025

The Provincial Information and Communication Technology Advisory Board (PICTAB), in its Meeting held on December 5, 2022 at the Executive Bldg. Conference Hall, Provincial Capitol, approved in principle the proposed ICT Roadmap 2023-2025 of the Province.

Ms. Sherlyn B. Fernandez, Chief of the PITD-GO and concurrent PICTAB Secretariat Head, who presented the salient points of the Roadmap, was thankful to the Provincial Planning and Development Office staff led by PPDC Edgardo D. Sabado for extending their technical assistance.

During the discussions facilitated by Governor Carlos M. Padilla, the participants raised some comments and suggestions on the Roadmap.

They also proposed some amendments to SP Ordinance No. 2017-139, or “An Ordinance creating the Provincial Information and Communication Technology Advisory Board (PICTAB) of the Province of Nueva Vizcaya, defining its powers and functions, appropriating funds therefor, and for other purposes “, dated September 29, 2017, which was presented by Atty. Clariza S. Idio of the Provincial Legal Office. The proposed amendments include the changing of the special body’s name to Provincial Information and Communication Technology Council (PICTC) for purposes of consistency with those of the other LGUs, and the addition of more members to the governing ICT body, among others.

They then advanced further refining of the Roadmap, and crafting of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRRs) that will articulate all the comments and suggestions pertaining to the said Ordinance, and proceeded to create a 7-man technical working group that will undertake those tasks.

As regards the vacant position of PICTAB Vice Chairperson, the members’ unanimous choice for it was PLDT.

Ms. Johanna F. Tulauan, OIC of the DICT’s Nueva Vizcaya Office, presented to the body their agency’s plans and accomplishments, and their services which, she said, could be tapped by the province and its component LGUs, including stakeholders from the private sector.

She also led her agency in turning over certain ICT equipment for the Provincial Government’s Tech4ED Center headed by Ms. Emerlene Jane I. Galanta of the Governor’s Office.

Capping the meeting was the discussion on the policies and guidelines for the use of CCTV within the Provincial Capitol led by Mr. Rufino T. Lumase, Jr., a member of the Provincial Government’s Security and Counterterrorism Committee.
